The Orange County Fair has plenty of attractions and exhibits for the entire family including wine seminars and tasting, racing pigs, karaoke, the Orange County Fair 5K Fun Run, celebrity chefs, Russell Brothers Circus, a camel dairy, a petting zoo, pie eating contests, a hypnotist, Peking Acrobats, livestock shows, Centennial Farm, Millennium Barn, rare fruit growers, the Orange County Beekeepers Association, and much more.
All-Alaskan Racing Pigs
See the swiftest swine compete for a cookie as the audience cheers them on. Orange County Fair pig races are a very popular attraction and are held several times a day in the OC Fair Livestock Area.
Wine Seminars and Tasting
Sample an array of award-winning wine from the renowned Orange County Fair Wine Competition presented by the Orange County Wine Society. Cost is $3 for two 1 ounce tastes.
The Orange County Wine Society will also be presenting wine seminars and tasting events in the Courtyard of the Orange County Fair. Wine seminar prices range from free to $30 and typically include a 2014 Riedel glass with the Orange County Fair logo, a 2014 wine awards book, 8 wine tastings, and assorted nibbles.
OC Brew Hee Haw
The 1st Annual Orange County Brew Hee Haw will be held Friday, July 11 – Sunday, July 13. Admission to the Brew Hee Haw is $55 and includes admission to the OC Fair.
The OC Brew Hee Haw features over 60 craft beer selections, beer demos, a commemorative festival glass, music and more. For more info go to ocbrewheehaw.com.
Every night on the Meadows Stage, Orange County Fair visitors can feel like real rock stars with this karaoke-meets-live-band mix. Karaoke is first-come, first-served. This attraction is free with Orange County Fair admission.
Orange County Fair 5K Fun Run
On Sunday, August 3, hundreds of participants will run, walk and skip through the Orange County Fair. For those not concerned with finishing first, they can partake in OC Fair rides, games and more on this special 5K route before the Orange County Fair opens to the public.
Organized in conjunction with the Orange County Marathon, the OC Fair 5K Fun Run starts at 8 am. Pre-registration is available at ocfair5k.com. A fundraiser pancake breakfast benefitting the Centennial Farm Foundation will be held the same day starting at 6:30 am in Centennial Farm. Each 5K Fun Run registrant can purchase a discounted pancake breakfast ticket. Each 5K Fun Run registrant gets one free admission to return to the Orange County Fair.
Orange County Fair Celebrity Chefs
The OC Fair has celebrity chefs for three free demonstrations and autograph signings in The Hangar which are free with Orange County Fair admission. Celebrity chefs include: Carla Hall on Thursday, July 17 at 4 p.m; Roy Choi (Kogi BBQ) on Thursday, July 24 at 4 pm; and Kelsey Nixon on Thursday, July 31 at 4 pm.
Food Contests & Exhibits at the Orange County Fair
The Promenade area at the Orange County Fair will feature food workshops and exhibits designed to teach modern cooking techniques, food preserving, baking, and more. OC Fair demonstration areas will be open daily. Enthusiastic instructors, local chefs, and other food professionals will share their skills and ideas in an interactive and informal way.
Oasis Camel Dairy
The Oasis Camel Dairy brings a unique agricultural, historical and scientific display to the Orange County Fair July 30 – August 10. This OC Fair exhibit blends the camels’ colorful, ancient history with today’s new discoveries. Camel milking demonstrations take place each day at 1:30, 3:30 and 5:30 pm. The camel exhibit is free with Orange County Fair admission.
Budweiser Clydesdale Exhibit
Orange County Fairgoers can check out the iconic Budweiser Clydesdales from August 6 – 10 with a daily hitch preparation demonstration at 4 pm and a parade through the OC Fair at 5 pm.
Wild West Turkey Stampede
The Orange County Fair is going to the turkeys with the new Wild West Turkey Stampede August 6 -10. OC Fair visitors can watch turkeys race daily at 2 pm, 4 pm, 6 pm and 8 pm.
Grounds & Community Entertainment
As visitors stroll through the Orange County Fair, they will encounter clowns, games and magicians – all presenting another facet of the Orange County Fair’s amusement offerings.
Various stages throughout the Orange County Fair host a wide variety of amateur performers to entertain OC Fair visitors, including dancers, karate practitioners, aerobics demonstrators, vocalists, instrumentalists and cultural groups. These attractions are free with Orange County Fair admission.
Russell Brothers Circus
This family circus delights Orange County Fair visitors young and old. The Russell Brothers Circus is unique in the creative way it uses the performers and audience instead of animals. Located on Commerce Lane near the OC Fair Green Gate. This attraction is free with Orange County Fair admission.
Get a close look and learn and come face-to-face with all kinds of animals at the Orange County Fair. One petting zoo is located on Commerce Lane near the OC Fair Green Gate and Kiddie Carnival.
A second petting zoo, All Creatures Great and Small, is on Livestock Lane near the OC Fair Yellow Gate and features llamas, a mini-horse or donkey, potbelly pigs and more. These attractions are free with Orange County Fair admission.
Contests for All Ages
The Orange County Fair offers exciting contests, includes eating contests, for all ages in the Fun Zone Tent along with the special contests for seniors on the Meadows Stage on Senior’s Day (Fridays).
Daily free eating contests are held on the OC Fair Explorium Stage at 6:30 pm (pre-register at 6 pm) for children ages 5 – 18.
The Orange County Fair Country Meadows features various food vendors, including the larger-than-life Outlaw Grill and the Meadows Stage, which hosts a variety of community entertainment.
As Orange County Fair visitors enter the OC Fair through the Blue Gate (Main Gate), they will get their first taste of the Orange County Fair in the Fair Square, featuring food, merchandise and roving entertainment.
Plaza Arts Stage
In addition to a variety of food vendors, the Orange County Fair Park Plaza features the Plaza Arts Stage, which features arts and multicultural attractions in the day, and hosts Hypnotist Mark Yuzuik and the Peking Acrobats nightly. These attractions are free with Orange County Fair admission.
Three areas at the Orange County Fair feature demonstrations and community attractions and exhibits related to competitive entries:
• Visual Arts, Culinary Arts and Crafts & Hobbies: Promenade Stage
• Youth: Fun Zone Stage
• Livestock : Livestock Showing
The Centennial Farm is a year-round, four-acre demonstration farm dedicated to agricultural education, highlighting California’s rich agricultural heritage. More than 30 different crops can be seen growing in the raised beds. The wide variety of farm animals includes cows, sheep, pigs, goats, rabbits, chickens and oxen.
During the Orange County Fair, expect one or more of the sows to give birth to a litter of piglets that can be seen in their pen. Orange County Fair visitors can also get their hands dirty in the vermiculture display showing how earthworms help to produce bountiful fruits and vegetables.
Agriculture-focused exhibitors, including UCCE Master Gardeners, are located just outside the Silo Building. The Centennial Farm is located at the south end of Centennial Way – see the Orange County Fair Centennial Farm map. These exhibits are free with Orange County Fair admission.
Cow milking demonstrations are held daily in the Millennium Barn during the Orange County Fair. Also featured daily is an exhibit by Heifer International as well as leather crafting demonstrations. These exhibits are free with Orange County Fair admission.
Rare Fruit Growers
Members of the Orange County Rare Fruit Growers Association will exhibit exotic and unusual fruits while answering questions about fruit trees at their gazebo located at the southeast side of Gallery 15 at the Orange County Fair. These exhibits are free with Orange County Fair admission.
Orange County Beekeepers Association
Located on the southwest side of Gallery 15, the Orange County Beekeepers provide an educational exhibit of bees and beekeeping, along with an observation hive where OC Fair visitors can see a colony of live bees. These exhibits are free with Orange County Fair admission.
Explorium: Destination Kids
Kids will want to check out the new OC Fair Explorium (formerly the Fun Zone). It has a new look, a new name and tons of exciting areas to explore, as well as some familiar. The main attraction is the Big Bug Hut where kids can observe arachnids in action, crickets, tumbling tarantulas, and more.
Kids can also visit the OC Fair ExplorOcean booth where they can control underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV’s), build plankton for the Plankton Races and do Squishy Circuits.
Kids can also view the creatures from Prehistoric Pets including lizards, snakes, tarantulas, and an astonishing assortment of reptiles.
